Hourly to salary calculator, with PTO
Convert an hourly wage to yearly, monthly and per-paycheck pay, or a salary to an hourly rate. Paid time off and unpaid days off are counted separately, so you can compare offers fairly.
The formulas
- Hourly → salary: rate × hours per week × weeks per year, minus unpaid days off × hours per day × rate. Paid vacation and holidays are already included, because they're paid at the same rate. $25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000.
- Salary → hourly: salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). $52,000 ÷ 2,080 = $25.00. This is the rate payroll uses for things like PTO payout.
- Effective rate per hour worked: salary ÷ (paid hours − paid days off × hours per day). With 15 paid days off, $52,000 ÷ 1,960 = $26.53 for each hour you actually work.
Comparing an hourly job with a salaried one
An hourly job with no paid time off pays only for hours worked, so enter its days off as unpaid. Compare that annual figure with the salary, or compare effective rates per hour worked. Benefits such as health insurance and retirement matching aren't included.
